Cup o’ Coffee with Chris

Hey everybody!

This is that part of the segment where you can get to know me in depth and personal. If you don’t see a question listed here that you’re dying to ask, then email me — chriscicchelli@gmail.com

So, who is Chris Cicchelli? C’mon… really.

Chris Cicchelli is a Harlemite (I think that’s what you call ‘em) who spends all day blogging, listening to Muse, and reading books. Sometimes I draw pictures. Other days I’m working on short fiction stories. I also work at the Museum of Sex in New York City.

Speak of the devil, you describe yourself as a sex/death enthusiast. Care to comment?

Ever since I was a little girl, I had always been fascinated by both sex and death. Some of my older entries described the time I spent as a child; Unsolved Mysteries and Cinemax-After-Dark were among my roster of must-see TV. Both topics are handled quite sensitively in mainstream society. There is no death-ed curriculum in school; and sex education is often fraught with politics and conservatist attitudes that discussions about pleasure and desire are rarely discussed. For many of us, sex… and death.. just sort of happens. And I like to report on how and why it happens to all of us.

So where did the idea of A Fantastic Nightmare come from?

Well, the name “A Fantastic Nightmare” was the title for a fantasy series that I started about three years ago. At the same time, I was blogging on Myspace about my personal life and experiences as a sex worker turned civilian. I started other blogs but they never gained momentum. I also enjoyed reporting on different topics and wanted to find a way to fit all of my interests into one mega-blog. So, I killed my other darlings and began this one in April.

What’s on the horizon for Chris Cicchelli and A Fantastic Nightmare?

My biggest project right now is to complete my short fiction series. It is a collection of horror, fantasy, and speculative fiction that involves demonic lovers, exorcisms, and the like. I’m tossing around a few story ideas for a supernatural series that will be featured here. Soon, I will contribute my writing to other websites – will let you know when this happens. And, of course, I will continue to report on the strange and unusual for all of you to enjoy.

Have more questions? Dying for me to report on something especially fantastic? Just email me – chriscicchelli@gmail.com

Thanks!
