This ongoing series here at A Fantastic Nightmare is aimed to enlighten, entertain, educate, and inspire. The Road to Kink is a complex one; its travelers all chase after ecstasy, arousal, power, sexual satisfaction. But, they each have very different ways of doing so. Sometimes, fantasies are as playful and simple as riding the back of your lover around the bedroom while they sport a horsetail butt plug. Some fantasies are far more sinister than others, often begging one to forsake their ethics and moral character to indulge in taboo delights.
In this series, I use the terms fetish and kink interchangeably, although many can argue over their differences.
A fetish describes the deep arousal one has for almost anything, whether it’s an item, material, an archetype, a body part, or even a person (All of which are known as a fetish-object). For many people, sexual gratification isn’t achieved unless their fetish-object is involved in some manner (It could be introduced into the bedroom or fantasized about during sexual play). Kink is just another way of expressing one’s sexual behavior. When one’s arousal for a fetish becomes compulsory and that person heavily attaches all needs and desires to that fetish-object (despite moral codes and etiquette), then one may classify that fetish as a paraphilia.
I try to focus on as many fetishes as possible, although there are so many in this big, strange world that not all of them will get my full attention. However, I direct my attention to kinks that aren’t as popular or as commonly practiced or encouraged in mainstream society, as well as taboo fetishes and fun fantastical fetishes that only one’s imagination can satisfy. Here are a few fetishes that I may not talk about:
- BDSM – This isn’t a fetish to me. Instead, it constitutes a community or larger entity that has many fetishes therein. So, while I may not talk about subs and bottoms, I will discuss fetishes like pony-play, roleplay scenarios, and other fetishes that are popular in the BDSM community.
- Real-Time, Non-Consensual Sex – This includes zoophilia, pedophilia, rape, and any other form of paraphilia that forces one or more parties to surrender their rights and understandings of any type of sexual activity. I will talk about rape fantasies and rape play; I will discuss role-play scenarios in which age and consent are both fetishized, I’ve even covered animal mimicry and zoosadism in previous posts. But, these paraphilias are far more complicated and muddled in legalities and social misconceptions to speak about freely. Plus, I can’t encourage anyone to fuck a horse or a young child, nor would I even encourage them to fantasize about it if the compulsion to do so is present.
While I covered zoosadism, I did so because there was a great interest in my animal crushing story. Then, I discovered that there is a community of psychologists and researchers that have studied and are still studying the sexual link between animal torture and arousal. So, I went there. And it’s still the most popular entry of the series to date.
