Carrie Prejean “Defiled Her Body”

Like most figures in the media, I indirectly ignore Carrie Prejean’s face on websites and newspaper rags on a somewhat regular basis. I think I heard she was one of those pageant winners who flashed for cash (or for artistic expression, or whatever the cause may be). Now, I discovered that Prejean now aims her self-righteous pistols at the media and pornography for her inevitable fall from redemption.

In a “tell-all” book, Prejean bashes pornography and talks straightforwardly about what a few topless pictures has taught her:

“Our bodies are temples of the Lord. We should earn respect and admiration for our hearts, not for showing skin to look sexy… I have since learned that your outer beauty can only get you so far in life.” – Carrie Prejean

She then goes on to say that the instantaneous access society has to porn is causing young girls to grow up with mixed signals:

“The result is that girls grow up in a culture where it is hard to have an innocent, healthy, normal view of themselves, how they should behave, how they should act, and how they should dress.” -Carried Prejean

Portraying pornography as the axis of evil for young women, Prejean does a nice job of removing herself from the fact that she willingly showed off her ta-tas at a photo shoot. Why is it that the pious are only seen as pious in the face of hypocrisy?

While there have been a clear example of women who do vocalize their empowering experience when baring it all, younger women, like Prejean, often throw themselves under the perpetual bus for “defiling their bodies”, a betrayal to the Lord and to their fans.

Give it a rest, gals.
