Sanford’s Wife Reveals her Husband’s Adulterous Past

I feel sorry for Sanford. Really, really sorry. Imagine telling your soon-to-be spouse that you have desires unrelated to marriage and then having them blow it off as “a phase”.

Are you kidding? No wonder you people make marriage look like a joke.

Calling it a “leap of faith”, Mark Sanford’s wife, Jenny Sanford, told Barbara Walters (on 20/20, where cheaters are roasted and wives are made to look like “victims”) that she (mis)interpreted Sanford’s honesty as “cold feet”:

“With the benefit of the knowledge I have about Mark now, I could point to this moment as a clear sign of things to come,” she writes. But at the time, she found his honesty “brave and sweet” and thought he just had cold feet.”

I’m going to stop right there. Jenny Sanford – and all of the women who support her – makes me sick and ruins marriage and healthy sexual relationships for the rest of us. I’m not going to throw stones at Mark Sanford because he acted on impulses that both he and his wife were well aware of. Unfortunately he’s a politician, so his secrets are inevitably going to be revealed. But, Ms. Jenny, please. Part of me believes that you were riding this meal ticket all the way to the top and you were just waiting for the day when your husband’s indiscretions will be revealed. You have a nice pit of money in your pocket, you’re on 20/20, you even get to write a book about your pseudo-innocent stance on this entire drama.

Now I don’t know if she inevitably says “You know… I should have listened… Mark Sanford isn’t a bad person…” but I have a feeling that she will continue forward on her moral road to “independence”. Ladies, if your man says he’s going to stray, don’t treat him like a child. It’s the most mature thing a man can do – to confide in the woman that he loves. You re-evaluate your relationship and come to an agreement that works for the both of you. Marriage will not change people’s “impulses”. It never worked that way and it never will.
